Circular Chess
Circular Chess
Circular chess is a chess variant that uses a circular board. It has a long history among the many chess variants, and it is documented that a game using such a board was played in the Arab world in the Middle Ages with Shatranj pieces (Byzantine chess).
Although the modern application was made by Dave Reynolds in 1983, the rules included here are the original version that more strictly follows both rules of Byzantine chess and orthodox chess.
The board shape makes the game slightly different from regular chess, and there are no established tactics. Therefore, both familiar and unfamiliar chess players may find this game refreshing.
※Note that the pieces are much smaller than regular chess pieces, as shown in the picture.
