Whirlpool is a placement game that uses a special board with a whirpool pattern. The board has a regular hexagonal shape but is divided into sections numbered 1 through 13, with each section containing as many hexes as its number.
On each turn, players place one or two pieces. If a player gains a majority within a section, they can convert all of the opponent’s pieces in that section into their own. The goal of the game is to create the largest group of your own pieces.
Since the pieces are the same 10mm discs used in Meridians, you can also purchase a set without pieces (15mm discs would obscure the numbers, making the game slightly more difficult to play).
